5 tips for integrating deaf children into Christmas celebrations

Celebrating Christmas is one of the most enjoyable times for children, because they love the accompanying atmosphere starting with decorations and decorating the Christmas tree with family and friends, as well as the idea of Santa Claus, who they believe will secretly bring gifts for them.

In light of the hustle and bustle and the various games that we are used to on such occasions, it may not be easy for deaf children who may find it difficult to participate in these activities and do not feel the joy of celebrations like their normal counterparts.

And on how to deal with this matter, the British newspaper "MIRROR" discussed the experiences of some parents in dealing with deaf children during the holidays and how to make the celebrations more enjoyable for them.

Lynn Chipperfield, 41, who lives in Manchester with her 8-year-old daughter Freya, who has a cochlear implant because she suffers from deep deafness, said her daughter is affected by all the festive appearances of Christmas due to her hearing loss, noting that theaters do not provide films with subtitles in English. Signal.

"The sheer volume of activities causes a lot of stress, every Christmas event is more difficult because of the increased noise levels, the focus required and the amount of people asking her questions," she added.

And the mother continued, that the child can absorb the conversation even if it is not directed at them by hearing, but her daughter always asks what was just said, commenting: “Even if the conversation was not directed at her, it is important that she repeat it because she has the right to realize that.”

She explained that her family does not use the word “it doesn’t matter” at home. All things are important and must be explained to children as one of their rights. She added: “Everyone knows how easy it is to follow up on conversations with family members or ordinary friends, but talking to deaf children needs an inner desire to act.” That and patience because it requires repeating the phrases to them so that they can absorb them ».

And about her favorite Christmas activities, she continued that she is watching her favorite movie, “The Polar Express”, with her child, adding that although the aspects of Christmas are challenging for her deaf daughter, she still loves it.

For her part, the little girl, Freya, said she wished Christmas was quieter so that she could hear everything, but Christmas is so much fun and it's so good this year.

And the mother expressed her months of pride in being the mother of this child, which she described as without her deafness, she would not be Freya, explaining that she "draws a picture when she tells you a story to make sure you understand the way you see it and seeing the world through it made me look at life from a new perspective."

Moving on to another family, Stewart Milligan, 32, and his wife Rose Fowler, 41, of Stewarton, said Christmas seemed to be missing out on their three-year-old daughter Lois.

The father explained that at this time of the year, nurseries sing songs and recite stories about Santa Claus and do activities that make Christmas magical for children, but despite his daughter's enrollment in the nursery, she does not understand what this celebration is and sometimes confuses things with each other.

He referred to his daughter's love for the bright lights accompanying Christmas, but it was difficult for her to understand why she received the gifts, and the atmosphere accompanying the Christmas celebration, such as trees, decorations and songs, commenting: "All of these things are a mystery to her."

And he added that his favorite Christmas memory was last year, when his deaf child was implanted with a cochlear implant in mid-December, after a long battle he fought to be able to do so, continuing: “Words really cannot describe the expression on her face when she discovered our voices, our music, and the noise in everything around her.” for the first time".

The father expressed his sense of pride in his little daughter’s progress well in kindergarten, and her love for swimming, gymnastics and dancing, stressing that she can achieve anything she wants, but he hopes that people will be patient and make sure that there are deaf children when everyone is rushing to get things, and give a little time to make sure understand them.

"The more people who know how to make small changes to their behavior when with a deaf person, the easier it will be for a deaf person to participate in the events around him," he added.

There are lots of things people can do to make sure that deaf children in their families, friendship groups and school environments feel included and included in the community, said Lucy Reed, Head of Engagement for the National Society for Deaf Children.

She explained that if everyone works together and exchanges some deaf skills, any deaf child will be able to feel part of the festivities and spend a happy and enjoyable time during these holidays.

Five tips for making sure deaf children are included at Christmas

1- Deaf children rely on all kinds of signs and clues to communicate even if they are wearing hearing technology, so remember to face them when you talk to them, and do not put your hand over your mouth or speak when you eat.

2- If a deaf child misses a joke, or doesn't understand a whole conversation, never say it's not important, this can be very upsetting for a deaf person, if it's important to share, you can share it with them too.

3- A Christmas movie is a great way to spend time together, but make sure you have the subtitles ready and ready.

4- Noise makes things difficult for deaf children, so turn off the music and replace it with a game where everyone can be included.

5- Let them choose where to sit when eating and make sure the room is lit.

9 tips and foods to protect your child from the common cold

 9

tips and foods to protect your child from the common cold

9 tips and foods to protect your child from the common cold

The main reason is the weakening of the immune system of her child, so it is necessary to prevent seasonal influenza throughout the year in various ways, so that the child becomes a strong build, and it is worth noting that many scientific studies confirmed that children who were breastfed are less likely to get sick than those who were not blessed with it. From an early age, your child can build his immune system in a healthy manner, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, to vaccinate against seasonal influenza annually, as it largely protects against infection and infection in the winter season.

Habits that cause diseases

Exaggerating and increasing the child’s clothes, thinking that this will protect them from the cold.
The child goes down in the morning without eating breakfast or drinking water.
Not opening windows and neglecting good ventilation of the house in the winter due to the cold weather.
Lack of interest in isolating the patient from the family, whether a child or an adult, from the rest of the healthy.
Passive smoking and its effects on children's respiratory system

1. Bee honey
Mixing a spoonful of honey in a cup of water for your child to drink every morning before going to school, and you can add some drops of lemon if your child has a cold, as honey is a natural antimicrobial and germ, strengthens the immune system and is a source of energy, noting that it should not be given to those without year old.

2. Banana and kiwi
Banana is considered one of the most important fruits rich in energy and rejuvenation. It is also rich in natural fibers and contains large amounts of potassium, which makes it strengthens the immune system. Kiwi is also an important source of vitamin C, which is very important for the prevention and treatment of influenza. One kiwi fruit contains twice as much vitamin C as an orange.

3. Tomatoes
It contains lycopene, which fights free radicals in the body, so be sure to offer it to your child in its natural form, whether as a local juice or alongside meals or green salad.

4. Lemon
It has antiviral, bacterial, and antifungal properties, so it weakens the influenza virus in the body and relieves its annoying symptoms. It is important to keep drinking lemon juice, and you can inhale the water vapor in the heater containing a few lemon peels for five minutes to relieve the symptoms of the disease.

5. Gingerbread
It also strengthens the immune system, so you can use natural ginger to eat for your family to protect them from diseases, in addition to drinking a cup of hot water after boiling slices of ginger in it.

6. The ring
It has antiviral properties, and it can be used either by drinking it after boiling well until it is concentrated in boiling water, or by soaking its seeds overnight and using its water as a gargle to treat sore throat.

7. Mint
Helps fight infection, as it contains menthol that helps moisturize the throat, loosen mucus, and soothe coughs. Fresh mint leaves can be used as a warm drink or cut into salads and foods.

8. Water
Influenza makes the body lose a lot of fluids, so it is necessary to take care of drinking natural juices and water. The body needs 8 glasses of water a day to hydrate the body in order to strengthen its immunity against colds and other diseases.

9. Orange juice
Fresh oranges are one of the most important sources of vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and increases the production of white blood cells to fight infection, so be sure to offer it to your child, provided it is natural juice and not canned.

Your child's safety tips

Always wear a mask in the winter, even if there is no fear of the Coronavirus
Pay attention to guiding your child and accustoming him to washing hands frequently, after and before eating, after bathing, and after playing, and that washing his hands does not take less than 20 seconds and that he rubs between the fingers and at the nails in order to prevent infection from spreading.
Cut your child's nails constantly so as not to contaminate his food when eating, and make sure to change and wash all his tools and bottles continuously and allocate his own towel if he is sick and wash it every day of his illness so as not to cause the infection to pass on to himself the next day.
You must take the full dose of the medicine until complete recovery and not stop it once the apparent improvement only so that it does not turn into a chronic allergy, God forbid, take care to bathe your child naturally with warm water, which activates his body and which results in inhaling hot water vapor that moisturizes his respiratory system and expands the airways And helps with treatment.
He must rest at home for at least 48 hours when he is infected, with attention to proper nutrition, as we mentioned, to raise his immune system.
It is necessary for your child to get a sufficient amount of sleep in the normal case, at least 10 hours for school age and 12 hours for the youngest age, as this improves body functions and strengthens immunity.
Regular exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, strengthens immunity and provides the body with the energy it needs to fight infection.
Every once in a while, make sure to disinfect surfaces, wash and disinfect door handles, and make sure to disinfect the child’s toys.
Opening the windows of the house before your child comes out in the morning so that his body gets used to the cold weather outside before being exposed to it suddenly. Rather, gradualness is very important for prevention.
Pay attention to the speed of treatment as soon as symptoms appear on your child and do not wait until the infection does not turn into an allergy in the chest and the matter becomes more complicated

6 tips to protect children from colds and flu in the winter

6 tips to protect children from colds and flu in the winter

Children have difficulty adapting to climatic changes and low temperatures, so children's immune systems must be developed in order to fight diseases and viruses, colds and flu, ear infections and sore throats.

1- Wear appropriate clothing

Parents should keep children wearing heavy long-sleeved clothes, in order to keep the child's body warm.

2- Cleanliness

Baby Sleep Miracle

of the body

Keeping a child's environment and belongings clean is important because their immune system fights infection. Since children spend most of the cold weather indoors, it's important to clean and disinfect the house regularly, especially during and after rainstorms. When wetness encourages fungal infections, encourage them to keep their things, such as Clothes, socks, toys and schoolbags, dry and clean.

3- Keep your baby hydrated

Latest Baby Care Advice and Techniques of alltime

You can easily forget to give your child fluids as they are so busy with different activities that even if they are not sweating, they will be at risk of dehydration, so encourage your child to drink plenty of water before, during and after any activity.

Babies are also more at risk of dehydration in cold temperatures than adults, so it is advised that you give the baby plenty of warm fluids like warm water, milk, etc.

4- Healthy nutrition

Make sure that your child eats healthy food, and include all the necessary vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in their diet, which are essential for strengthening the defense mechanisms of the body.

Give your child foods rich in vitamin C such as oranges, tomatoes, melons, papayas, green leafy vegetables, and foods rich in water such as onions, broccoli, cauliflower, mint, and ginger.

Latest Baby Care Advice and Techniques of alltime

5- Get enough sleep

The functioning of our immune system is greatly influenced by sleep. Strong variations during a typical sleep-wake cycle affect your child's physical and mental activities, as well as heart rate, body temperature, and immunological parameters, including leukocyte and cell production.

An inflammatory condition may occur due to a lack of good sleep. Lack of sleep can weaken the immune system, making the child more susceptible to infection with bacteria and viruses.

6- Limit your intake of sugary foods

Increased sugar consumption also leads to inflammation of the immune system. Children who consume a lot of sugar are more likely to catch the flu, common cold and other diseases, to strengthen their immune system.

How to protect your child from cold and flu

**************

The protection of older children is based on healthy food, which contains vitamins and minerals necessary to build the immunity of their bodies and maintain their health to resist diseases, especially fruits, vegetables and honey.

To protect your child, dear mother, you should focus well on ventilating the house daily and renewing the air in it to prevent the accumulation and multiplication of germs. And make sure to keep the house temperature moderate.

Children should be accustomed to washing hands continuously after every work they do for at least 20 seconds, i.e. after eating food or after playing with his own toys or the toys of any other child, and after entering the bathroom, as hand washing prevents the transmission of germs to the child.

Ways to treat constipation in children in natural ways

Ways to treat constipation in children in natural ways

Constipation is one of the common digestion problems, both in children and adults, and this problem does not lie only in its time, but the fear lies in the development of the condition to the occurrence of hemorrhoids or fissures, and entering the bathroom turns into frightening and painful moments for the person with constipation

You must determine whether your baby in the first months actually suffers from constipation or not, as the dates of excretion are not regular, so regular excretion is not a sign of constipation in itself.

Symptoms of constipation

-------Baby Sleep Miracle ---

Clay-like stools, or irregular stools with a hard consistency.

Feeling of “gripping”, severe pain and crying when defecation.

Refusal to eat despite the supposed feeling of hunger.

Feeling that the baby's stomach is unusually swollen and hard.

The presence of blood in the stool as a result of the occurrence of wounds during the exit of the stool.

Treatment of constipation in infants in the first months

Latest Baby Care Advice and Techniques of alltime

  -----------

Abdominal massage throughout the day may help move the bowels and facilitate the excretion process.

You can move the baby's feet in circular motions like riding a bicycle to stimulate bowel movements.

You can review your own diet. If you are breastfeeding your baby, you may be eating food that causes your baby to become constipated.

If your child is formula-fed, you may need to change the type of formula after consulting the doctor.

A warm bath may be a solution to the problem, as warm water soothes the abdominal muscles and facilitates the excretion process.

Finally, you can see your doctor, as you may need your child to use suppositories or certain medications to pass this period.

You must ensure that your child gets enough milk and fluids and does not suffer from dehydration or lack of fluids.

Treatment of constipation in children up to 2 years old

Latest Baby Care Advice and Techniques of alltime

---------

Include foods and fruits rich in fiber in your child's diet, such as peeled apples, pears and peaches.

Use whole wheat flour or whole grains, which are richer in fiber than regular wheat and rice.

If your child is over 6 months old, plum or pear juice is an effective solution to treat constipation, and it can be given throughout the day, even in small quantities.

When using juices, they must be 100% natural and unsweetened, as sugar does not help get rid of constipation.

Keep apricots, berries and kiwi away from feeding your baby during this period, as they cause constipation.

Pureed foods after the age of 6 months are an excellent way to introduce fiber into your child's nutrition. Some vegetables and fruits are very effective when presented to the child in facilitating the excretion process, such as peas, boiled plums, and boiled potatoes.

Abdominal massage remains one of the effective methods even in slightly older ages, as it helps to facilitate and facilitate bowel movement.

Finally, laxatives are not bad at all, rather they are the ideal solution in cases of severe constipation so as not to cause pain or painful wounds to your child. Consult a doctor if taking laxative drops or suppositories for the first two days until the digestion process is regular again.

When does my child understand me and what are the stages of development of understanding in the child

When does my child understand me and what are the stages of development of understanding in the child

The language that your child learned first is the language of love. The strong bond that brought him together with you certainly must have a special language. So your child understands you from the first moment of his birth and feels you as well.

Newborn baby

**********

After your child has completed the first 60 days of his life

His senses begin to develop little by little, and he becomes more aware of his food and sleep times, and knows the difference between morning and evening. He can also know the father, brothers, and the rest of the individuals who live with him in the same house by distinguishing sounds, the way he plays, and talks.

----------------------------------------Home Doctor – BRAND NEW!

  https://bit.ly/3jwMFBW ------------------------ ------------

After your child completes his third month, he starts laughing with giggling sounds, he loves to play a lot and quickly integrates with the people around him, the movement begins and he turns to you when you call him by his name, he knows his name well now and he can also distinguish between the feelings of your face and if you show feelings of joy or Anger, anxiety, or other emotions that may appear on your face, he understands those expressions well, perhaps more than anyone else.

---------------------------------------------

From the eighth or ninth month until your child completes his first year, your child begins to understand some of the words that you direct to him, and he also begins to know your recommendations for each of his actions. Carrying food to his mouth correctly, you have to encourage him and applaud him while showing signs of joy and pleasure on your face, but if he throws food on the ground or carries it wrongly, you have to tell him that this behavior is wrong, but without scolding him, he is still a young child in the learning stage

------------------Home Doctor – BRAND NEW!

  https://bit.ly/3jwMFBW ---------------------

At this age, from 12 to 18 months

Your child may respond to commands, and this depends from one child to another, but in any case, the stage of responding to commands will not be less than a year and will not increase beyond a year and a half. He may make mistakes and he may be right, and it is something that is possible, you just have to encourage him after responding to orders so that he can be encouraged to respond to other orders.

------------------Home Doctor – BRAND NEW!

  https://bit.ly/3jwMFBW ---------------------

From 18 months to two years

At that stage, the child begins to repeat the word “No” a lot. Be patient and be wise and do not be irritable until that stage passes peacefully. At that stage, the child can also express himself. Instead of crying, the child will ask you to feed him or ask for a drink or express his opinion on something. What.

The health benefits of breastfeeding for the baby and the health of the mothers

The health benefits of breastfeeding for the baby and the health of the mothers

Benefits of breast milk for the child

*******************

It contains all the nutrients a baby needs during the first six months.

It contains a combination of factors that protect the baby while the immune system is still developing.

It helps the child fight infection and disease, even later in life.

It reduces the risk of obesity in the long run.

Helps develop eyes, brain and other body systems.

Breastfeeding helps jaw development.

Children who were breastfed as a child do better on intelligence tests.

Giving anything but breast milk is not recommended for the first 6 months (26 weeks) of a baby's life.

Breastfeeding also has many benefits in enhancing the health of mothers, as it reduces:

Bleeding immediately after delivery.

Breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Osteoporosis.

Cardiovascular disease.

obesity

Correct positions when breastfeeding

*********************

Sit up straight with your back and feet supported.

Wrap your arms around the baby's back, bringing him closer to you.

Place your hand under the baby's neck and shoulder instead of the head to allow him to take the appropriate position for him when feeding. You can also use a number of pillows to support the baby's position.

Bring your baby close to your breast and do not bend your back.

Make sure the nipple is in contact with the baby's upper lip.

Caress the baby's mouth with the nipple, and you will notice his response by opening his mouth and pointing his tongue down.

Make sure that the baby's lip is firmly applied to the nipple and part of the breast.

It is better to breastfeed alternately, that is, if a mother breastfeeds her child from one breast, she uses the other in the next feeding, and so on, and is careful to clean the nipple with a cloth dampened with water before feeding.

So, if your baby's hands or feet feel cold, put an extra layer on, just to keep him safe. Your baby also feels cold if you find a blue color in his extremities, and if the hands or feet are cold to the touch. You can also feel the back of his neck if it's cold. cold.

If your child is feeling cold, their skin will likely be paler than usual. However, if this is accompanied by lethargy, this could be a sign of hypothermia. If this happens, says Posner, warm up slowly. You can put a hat on. Their heads are useful because babies lose a lot of heat from their heads.
